# Provisional CPI Alignment Model

This is a best-guess scaffolding model for corporate review and asset completion. It is not official CPI language, not a substitute for CPI training, and not approved for clinical use. The CPI/Nexus addendum lead must replace or approve every line before pilot launch.

## Public-Source Boundary

Public CPI-facing materials describe a crisis-development progression using high-level concepts such as anxiety, defensive behavior, risk behavior, and tension reduction; staff responses are commonly framed around supportive response, directive response, safety intervention, and therapeutic rapport. Public CPI materials also emphasize that staff response affects behavior through the Integrated Experience.

This program uses those high-level ideas only as a provisional review frame. It does not quote proprietary CPI training content and does not claim Nexus policy alignment.

## Provisional Mapping

| Observed Child State | Provisional Staff Response | Pediatric Safety Question | Validation Needed |
|---|---|---|---|
| Anxiety / distress | Supportive response | What is the child communicating and what lowers stimulation? | <<CLINICAL: awaiting Nexus/CPI validation>> |
| Defensive behavior / refusal | Directive response plus choice where allowed | What clear limit or next step is needed without creating a power struggle? | <<CLINICAL: awaiting Nexus/CPI validation>> |
| Risk behavior / imminent harm | Immediate safety intervention by trained staff under policy | What is the likelihood and severity of harm if we wait? | <<CLINICAL: awaiting Nexus/CPI validation>> |
| Tension reduction / recovery | Therapeutic rapport and repair | What does the child need from us after the event? | <<CLINICAL: awaiting Nexus/CPI validation>> |

## Provisional Decision Rule

Before a scenario is used, the clinical owner must confirm:

- [ ] <<CLINICAL: awaiting Nexus/CPI validation>> The behavior level is named correctly.
- [ ] <<CLINICAL: awaiting Nexus/CPI validation>> The staff response is within CPI/Nexus addendum expectations.
- [ ] <<CLINICAL: awaiting Nexus/CPI validation>> The immediate-safety threshold is accurate.
- [ ] <<CLINICAL: awaiting Nexus/CPI validation>> The scenario does not teach a blanket never/always rule.
- [ ] <<CLINICAL: awaiting Nexus/CPI validation>> Documentation and family-loop language align with Nexus policy.
